About Lefton Family

A patient calls on a Tuesday morning because a crown came loose over the weekend, and she has a family wedding in two weeks. Another family brings in a nine-year-old for sealants while his older sister asks about clear aligners. Later that afternoon, a retiree sits down to talk about replacing a partial denture he has worn for a decade. These visits look very different from one another, but they share something in common: each person wants a straight answer, a plan they can understand, and a team that treats them like a neighbor rather than a chart number. That's the kind of day we have built our practice around in Sarasota.

Dr. Marc D. Lefton opened our doors in 1997, and we have been caring for this community for more than 25 years. In that time, we have watched patients grow from grade-schoolers into parents who now bring their own children to see us. Longevity like that isn't a marketing line for us — it shapes how we practice. When you know a family across decades, you learn their history, their habits, and what makes them nervous in a dental chair. You also learn that the best dentistry is usually the dentistry you plan for in advance.

Today Dr. Lefton practices alongside Dr. Jensen Bouton, and together we offer full-service general, cosmetic, and restorative care under one roof. That matters practically: if an exam reveals gum disease, we can begin periodontal care here. If a tooth needs a crown, a filling, or composite bonding, we can plan and restore it here. We see patients ages nine and up — school-age children, teens, and adults — and our hygienist is an everyday part of the care team, not an occasional add-on.

Most new patients arrive with one of a few questions. *How long will this take? Will it hurt? What is this going to cost me?* We'd rather answer those out loud than let you wonder. A visit typically begins with a thorough dental exam and cleaning, including an oral cancer screening, and we take the time to show you what we see and explain why it matters before we recommend anything.

From there, treatment is a conversation. Some patients want the whole roadmap at once; others prefer to handle the most urgent issue first and revisit the rest later. Both approaches are valid, and we'll tell you honestly which problems are time-sensitive and which can wait. For patients who feel uneasy, nitrous oxide sedation is available, and we'll go at whatever pace keeps you comfortable.

Here's what you can generally expect when you visit us:

  • A clear explanation of your exam findings, in plain language, before any treatment decisions are made
  • A written plan that separates urgent needs from elective or long-term goals
  • Emergency appointments when something breaks, aches, or comes loose unexpectedly
  • Options discussed openly, including what happens if you choose to wait
  • Financial information up front, including our $395 in-house membership plan covering exams and cleanings, plus flexible financing with quick pre-qualification that does not affect your credit

The Range of Care We Provide

Preventive dentistry is the foundation — cleanings, exams, sealants, night guards, and sports guards. But teeth and gums change over a lifetime, and we're equipped for what comes next. On the restorative side, we provide fillings, crowns, bridges, simple extractions, wisdom teeth removal, and tooth replacement options. For gum health, we offer scaling and root planing, gum disease treatment, and ongoing periodontal maintenance, and you do not need a referral to be seen.

Cosmetic goals get the same careful planning. We offer in-office teeth whitening, composite bonding, enamel microabrasion, and both composite and porcelain veneers, along with smile-design consultations for patients considering a full smile makeover. Clear aligners are available for adults and teens who want straighter teeth without traditional brackets.

We also handle complex situations that involve more than one issue at a time. We provide conventional complete and partial dentures, repair or replace existing dentures, and offer implant-supported dentures. When a case calls for coordination with other specialists, we manage that treatment planning so you're not left stitching the pieces together yourself. Beyond the teeth themselves, we offer TMJ/TMD therapy and sleep apnea treatment for patients dealing with jaw pain, clenching, or disrupted sleep.

Technology, Comfort, and a Sarasota State of Mind

Our office is technology-driven because better information leads to better decisions — being able to show you an image of a cracked tooth is far more useful than describing it. But the technology serves the relationship, never the other way around. The part patients tell us they value most is simply being listened to.

Sarasota has been our home since 1997, and we're grateful for it. We accept self-pay and cash patients, we file insurance claims as a general practice, and we try hard to make care accessible for families balancing real budgets. Whether you're overdue for a cleaning, in pain right now, or finally ready to do something about a smile that has bothered you for years, we'd be glad to meet you and get started.
